16.4.2008 PK2 foundation stone is laid on the building site, at the base of an excavated cliff.

Photo montages and comprehensive virtual models were used at various stages of the design, planning permission application and to support investment decisions. In these models, the project was presented both as part of its environment and, in the case of selected premises, from inside the buildings and as a sum of the two: from inside looking out at the future view. The new headquarter building looks out over an impressive view of the Länsiväylä linkroad and the sea.

Visualisation helped the work of the whole stakeholder partnership. A high-quality visualised 3D model itself serves to directly answer many questions and helps to advance the discussion to the remaining open questions. Through interaction based on a 3D model the (draft) plans can be updated to correspond with adjustments. Interactive use stresses the benefits of virtual reality – the chance to change the “visualised reality” in a cost-effective way. It is too late to fine-tune the concept after the building has already been constructed.
